The MON-REPOS HOTEL and its "History"...
The Mon-Repos Hotel represents a family legacy managed by several generations. A courageous and enterprising man was at the origin of this adventure—Mr. Charles SORGIUS—accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Lina RIESEN, who bought the hotel in 1928.
The beginnings were difficult.
Atthe time, the precarious means of transportation did not favor the Hotel Mon-Repos. The train station was once the center of business. In 1920, the International Labor Office moved there. Customers were few and far between. With determination, our great-grandfather decided to go and find future customers himself at Geneva train station, armed with a sign advertising "comfortable" rooms for rent!
When World War II broke out in 1939, the economy slowed down and only a few soldiers stayed at the hotel. The solution to keep the business running was for him to take on all the hotel tasks himself, accompanied by his wife, who remained faithful to her post.

Life returned to normal. The United Nations expanded, and various international organizations moved into the neighborhood. With passion and determination, our great-grandfather managed to turn the situation around and purchased buildings 133 and 127 next to the hotel in order to expand the business and residence. The passion for Swiss hospitality was passed on to subsequent generations: Max and Lydia Keller-Sorgius, then Eric and Claire Keller. These generations developed the legacy with the same enthusiasm and faced the challenges of everyday life.
We are grateful to them, because the fourth "young" generation, my sister and I, have received a gift that we respect. The Swiss hotel industry has a long history... however, despite the changing times and fashions, one principle remains infallible... that of authentic and efficient hospitality. We wish you an excellent stay.
